The Schaldenbrand family have lived and worked in the Algonac area of Michigan for three generations. Located on the west bank of the St.Clair River and part of the Great Lakes Waterway,  Algonac boasts a long and rich history of high performance marine manufacturing.

In 1922 Chris Smith opened a factory to build the now iconic, fast mahogany runabouts, known as Chris-Craft.  A few years later, legendary inventor, race boat builder and offshore racer, Garfield Wood, moved to Algonac and took advantage of the town’s proximity to the river to test his many marine innovations and prep his boats for racing.
