Over the years, the LeJeune family has enjoyed an active boating lifestyle. From owning several ski and wakeboard boats, to moving up to a 28’ Eliminator last year; Travis, his wife, Allison, and son, Tyler, love the adrenaline rush of going fast on the water. While they enjoyed their “go-fast” Eliminator, they often found space limited when friends would join them. At this year’s Tickfaw Poker Run, the LeJeune’s began looking at the other boats participating in the run to gauge what, if any, options would be better suited to their lifestyle.
“Boating is a family affair with us”, says Travis. “We all enjoy going fast and both Allison and Tyler drive the boat, so all of us were looking for other possibilities that might be out there. We were impressed with many of the new model performance center consoles we saw at Tickfaw.”
One model specifically made an impression on the LeJeunes when they met Johnny and Lori Schillace, of New Orleans, running a Sunsation 34CCX. The Schillace’s have owned threeSunsations over the years; a 29’, 32’ and now the 34CCX.
“Johnny was very enthusiastic about Sunsation Boats”, says Travis. “the styling, performance, fit and finish; and especially the people at the company. I was intrigued and Johnny said he would have Joe Schaldenbrand get in touch with me. When I spoke with Joe, he offered to bring Allison, Tyler and myself to Michigan for a personal tour.”
The LeJeune’s spent the day with Joe, touring the factory and meeting everyone on the Sunsation team. It was an ultimate experience for the family, as they decided that the 32 CCX with twin Verado 400’s would be the right boat for their lifestyle and all had the opportunity to provide input into what they would like to see in their new boat.
“Joe and the crew were amazing,” says Travis. It was like family. There was nothing that we wanted on the boat that Sunsation couldn’t provide to make our vision a reality. Allison and Tyler picked the interior colors, and we worked directly with Mitcher T on the paint design. It’s a specialized car wrap color, called Ocean Shimmer, that I had seen earlier on a customized Audi, and Mitcher T matched it perfectly.”
Among Travis’s various businesses, he is also a Manufacturer’s Representative for Exile Audio, a high-end audio systems company whose specialty is in-boat systems for wakeboard and ski boats.
“Joe and the Team had no problem in accommodating our request to install our preferred amps and speaker arrays and they did an awesome job”, says Travis. “Joe’s son, Jeremy, was very helpful and communicated with us throughout the build, sending videos and pictures of the boat in progress. The guys even surprised us with a personalized plaque to commemorate our new Sunsation”.
The LeJeunes purchased the boat through Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Missouri; and, on delivery, christened their new 32CCX, “Geaux Time”. An homage to their favorite team, LSU, and Tyler’s alma mater.
